MOTORHEADS DIARY 2012

It’s back, and better than ever!

For the 6th consecutive year the Motorheads Diary will be on the shelves from the middle of November. As always the 2012 edition not only has a page a day diary, (with only half pages for weekend days, mainly for those who get up late), but it’s filled to the brim with stories and pics on motoring trivia, interesting people and car stories, club news, event dates and a whole lot more.

In fact the “more” part has become one of the main reasons it’s such a useful book. It’s packed with trade information, like who sells spares for a 1948 Ford, who to contact if you need information on collectible cars like VW’s and Volvo’s, or where to find the best automotive glass experts. You can find the name and phone numbers of car manufacturers and importers, car clubs and race circuits.

Of course the end of the year is when thoughts turn to new beginnings next year, and if you need a bit of help planning for 2012 you can always have a glance through the Motorheads Star signs… they are generally rubbish, so if your star sign doesn’t appeal to you, just chose one you like better!

At the bottom of each page there is always a little box with something interesting for the day… ideal for those times you are hanging on the line for a call centre or an official department to answer. They are often so interesting that when the person you are calling answers, you forget what you were calling them about!

In addition to the wonderful collection of stories, anecdotes and trivia, Heide Marie has appointed and coerced some of South Africa’s most popular motoring journalists and contributors, and photographers (including top motorsport photographers, Motorpics), as well as a few not very well known, to provide some really great stories and images.

Motorheads is the perfect answer to the evergreen Christmas gift question… it is a superb gift for husbands and boyfriends, and even for wives and girlfriends if they are even slightly interested in things motoring.

The cover of the diary has become a feature in its own right. It’s a montage of South African motoring past and present. Like the contents, the cover has a very strong nostalgic flavour, with lots of pics of famous classic race cars and their drivers.

This year the editor and publisher, Motorheads has produced a Historic racing motorcycle edition. The contents are exactly the same as the regular motoring one, but the cover features historic and classic racing bikes, and some of the heros and champions that ride them. It’s a little more exclusive than the main edition, but costs the same and can be ordered directly from Motorheads.

Cost per book: R 150, available from Auto Books, Motorbooks, select Exclusive Books, PNA and other stores, and directly from Heide-Marie von der Au at Motorheads.
